Three things address it: the arch sits low-profile against the teeth rather than filling the mouth, the anterior is deliberately cut open so nothing presses on the soft palate, and you start at 0 mm advancement. Most people report the first two or three nights feel unfamiliar — extra saliva, an awareness that something's there — and that it stops registering by the end of the first week.
Will it hurt my jaw or move my teeth?
Mild jaw tightness or tooth pressure in the morning is common early on and usually fades within an hour. That's exactly why advancement is titrated in 1 mm steps: increase only until the snoring drops, then stop. If soreness persists, step back down a millimetre. If you have crowns, bridges, dentures, loose teeth, gum disease or ongoing orthodontic work, talk to your dentist before using any oral appliance.
Boil-and-bite sounds cheap. Is the fit actually good?
Boil-and-bite is a fitting method, not a quality tier. The alternative — a mass-produced fixed shape — is the cheap option, because it's the average of thousands of mouths and matches none of them. Here the thermoplastic takes an impression of your actual dentition, and the internal lattice holds it. If the first attempt is off, re-soften and remold. Most people get it on the first or second try.
How long will it last?
With nightly use, rinsing after each wear and storing it dry in the vented case, expect months of service rather than weeks. What kills mouthpieces is trapped moisture and heat — never leave it in a hot car or run it through a dishwasher, as that will deform the impression. A serialised warranty card is included in the box.
I have sleep apnea. Is this the right product?
QuietJaw Pro is designed to help reduce snoring by supporting a more open airway. It is not a treatment for sleep apnea, and we won't pretend otherwise. If you've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, or you experience gasping, choking or witnessed pauses in breathing during sleep, speak with your doctor before using any anti-snoring device.
How do I clean it?
Rinse under cool water immediately on waking, brush gently with a soft toothbrush and mild soap — not abrasive toothpaste, which scratches the surface and creates places for bacteria to settle. Air-dry fully, then store in the vented case. Cool water only. Heat reshapes the impression you spent five minutes making.
